“Tenkara Roll” — and it’s not a roll cast
Masaki Nakano is one of our favorite tenkara anglers. He seems to show up wherever Dr. Ishigaki and/or Daniel Galhardo show up. He interprets for Dr. Ishigaki, and he is one of the nicest guys you could ever hope to meet on the stream. He also quietly catches fish when nobody else is.
It seems that Masaki has discovered a sushi restaurant in San Francisco that serves a “tenkara roll.” I don’t know if anyone has ever caught a salmon on a tenkara rod, and I’m not crazy about salmon as a sushi fish, but if I ever get to San Francisco, I’m going to try it!
Here’s a picture Brian took of Masaki with a trout he caught on the American river in California…

Ashley: Do you know where on The American that picture was taken? I live very close to the North Fork of the American near Auburn and have yet to catch a fish in that river. I hear the middle and south forks are more productive.
Thanks
